August Blues

In August, when summer reaches a crescendo and the whole world stops for a moment to marvel at its glory, that is when the delphinium bloom.

I can't imagine my late summer garden without these heavenly blue spires, calm and serene among the more rambunctious bloomers, poised and polite in the dog days' heat.

My roses must agree, because they laid a blanket of their sweet pink petals at blue delphinium's feet.

And this is my favorite way to celebrate August in my garden.
