^ Gracie was a bit confused that her normal resting spaces
were not available to her, so she improvised.
After at least a decade of delays and procrastination, we are finally getting our house painted.
As in, we are paying someone to paint our house for us. For the first time ever, we are not painting it ourselves.
Instead of scurrying up and down extension ladders in the hot summer sun, I have big plans to lounge in the shade with a cool drink and watch as my house painters do all the heavy lifting.
What unimaginable luxury.
But this weekend has been surprisingly non-luxurious. As the first step in the house-painting process, our lovely hired professionals came by on Saturday for pressure washing and scraping.
Two tasks which make a GIANT mess.
And while our work team did their best to minimize the mayhem, they were more than happy to accept our help.
So half of our weekend was spent moving chairs, tables, garden planters, potting bench, recycling bins, wheelbarrow, Gracie’s swimming pool and a half dozen other things out of their way, to avoid being splattered with mud or covered with paint flecks.
And the other half was spent putting everything back where it belongs.
I did manage to sip one deliciously frosty can of LaCroix from a quiet spot beneath our maple tree, as the pressure washing reached its crescendo.
But otherwise, the project kept me hopping.
Apparently, house painting is still a lot of work even when someone else is holding the brush.

Our humble home is in need of a face lift. Come follow along as we have her painted.
