A Foretaste Of The Feast To Come

Welcome to another wedding in my world. The bride's vintage forest theme was a perfect choice not only for this rustic venue at Forest Park in Everett, but also for the blue-skied and sunshiney crisp October day.

I was lucky enough to have a special role in this wedding; I was the queen of decorations! Now it must be stressed that the bride, a long-time friend of the family and former student of mine, did all the work of planning, preparing and organizing the decor for her special day. She compiled her ideas and plans and sketches and detailed instructions in a darling binder, and handed it over to me to execute in the hours before the wedding.

She also recruited a staff of her friends, cousins, sisters, and any curious onlookers to be my hands and feet. They moved tables, set chairs, sorted out the table decorations, and ran a hundred different errands for me. I mostly stood around with my eyes glued to this fabulous notebook and bossed everyone around.

That's definitely my specialty.

Everything came together perfectly. I was so happy to contribute to a young couple's wedding day, and I am so honored that my friend trusted me to bring her dreams to life!

Still, as much as I adored the woodland details and sweet homemade touches of the decor, of course, all eyes were on the beautiful bride and and her gallant groom. And while they were fully deserving of this attention, they graciously shared their spotlight with the bride's twin niece and nephew, who simply could not have been any cuter.

Congratulations and best wishes to Emily and Shane; may all your days ahead be filled with friends and family, cozy charm and darling children, just like today!

  1. I was seriously just thinking a few days ago that there are not enough Fall weddings. It's such a beautiful time of year, the weather is usually perfect....I don't know why more people don't get married in the Fall.

    1. So true. Especially up here, June and July are iffy months, weather-wise, whereas September and early October are likely to be sunny and crisp. Hmm, maybe we can start a new craze.
