I got something really great in the mail today.
Before I even looked at it, I knew it was special. I could tell by the way the paper felt.
It was different than how my usual mail feels. It was smoother and flatter. More thin, I guess you might say.
If I would have stopped and taken a close look at the front of the envelope, all the secrets inside would have been revealed. But I barely glanced at it. I got really excited and flipped it over quickly
As I slid my finger under the back flap and popped it open, I immediately noticed another textural surprise. There was something about the way it felt when the glue and paper released their holds on one another. It just felt different. I got even more excited.
As I pulled the paper out, I was instantly less and more confused, all at the same time.
It was definitely Malaysian.
It was definitely related to a wedding.
Yes, it was an invitation to a Malaysian wedding, held on June 6. But whose wedding?
Honestly, I know several Malaysian couples who have tied the knot in the past week.
I searched around the page and found the names of the happy couple, but since my friends' formal Muslim names rarely match up to what they call themselves on Facebook, I was still confused.
Honestly, I had to study it awhile before I figured it all out.
Honestly, there is no one on this planet who loves a VW bug more than the one and only Abe Ej.
Terimo kasih, Abe, for honoring me with an invitation to your wedding on the other side of the world. You absolutely made my day with this amazing piece of Malaysian mail!
