An Apple Pie Would Also Work

Do you want to start a revolution of delicious at your Fourth of July picnic?
Would you like to declare your independence from artificial flavors and super sugary desserts?
Are you sick and tired of taxation without representation?

Well, I can't help you with that last problem. But as for the first two, I know just what to do.

1. Quick, whip up a batch of my mother-in-law's famous flaky biscuits. Better make it a double.

2. Gather some fresh strawberries and blueberries. Rinse them, cut the strawberries, and keep them away from the sugar bowl.

3. Go buy a little carton of heavy whipping cream at the store. Put it in a mixer or blender or food processor of some sort, and whip it up. Add a tiny bit of sugar - just enough for a hint of sweetness.

{Don't you dare skip over this step. I'm fine with a can of instant whipped cream every now and then, especially when it goes straight into my mouth.

But our forefathers did not sacrifice their lives so you could skimp on the good stuff. To properly honor the brave men of the American Revolution, please - I beg of you - use real whipped cream.}

4. Set all those yummy things out on your Fourth of July dessert table, and let everyone create their own patriotic masterpiece:

Finally, dig your fork into that yummy goodness and let the red, white and blue flavors explode in your mouth like the biggest and brightest fireworks of the season.

  1. Gramma-style biscuits! These look great.
    I am glad it's lunchtime because these make me hungry, but sad that saddened by the fact that they are not on my menu for today...

    Happy 4th!
