Red Round Things

I snapped those top three photos while walking through the Target parking lot today. The great minds at Target do a brilliant job of incorporating crisp, vibrant design into every aspect of their stores, including their wastebaskets, curbside protection devices, and shopping carts. I appreciate and enjoy all the little details and artistic flourishes that I see around the store as I shop, and there's something about the Target aesthetic that really hits the mark with me. I was thinking about this as I loaded my groceries into my car.

As I tucked this little four-pack of pomegranate juice away, I stole a quick peek at this label design that I love so much. And then it hit me. Red round things.

That's it! All the photos I had just shot in the parking lot featured red round things. Red round things are what Target's design aesthetic is all about. If you don't believe me, just look their logo.

As I drove home, I continued to ponder this discovery. Never really thought of it before, I said to myself, but I guess I kind of have a fondness for red round things too.

These thoughts were still mulling around in my brain as I pulled up to my house. I noticed my good ol' big red balls in my front yard:

I walked into the kitchen, dropped my shopping bags on the counter, and glanced up at the cupboard to see these little cuties:

Ranger, who had accompanied me on my trip, went straight to the back door and waited for me to let him outside. As I turned away from the counter and headed toward the door, I got an eyeful of this painting:

I slid the door open, and stepped outside with him to enjoy a moment of sunshine. Smack dab in front of me was a tall tomato plant full of fresh fruit:

I took one step around the pot, and my gaze fell upon this little guy:

Wandering around my own home, it took me less than two minutes to run across at least five different red round things. I don't have 'kind of a fondness' for red round things; it's a full-on obsession.

And you know what?  I'm okay with that.
